My name is Brooke Martin and I grew up in McLeansville, NC. I have two undergraduate degrees in Art History and History from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and a graduate degree in 19th Century Art, Architecture, and Design from the University of Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland. Currently, I work at the High Point Museum as the Visitor Services and Store Manager.
Making pottery is cathartic for me. I hope my pottery brings joy to the people who own it. I enjoy studying nature as well as vintage and antique art, furniture, fashion, and architecture. The lines and shapes found in each of these areas fascinates me. My inspiration for the pieces in this show are nature and styles from the early to mid 20th century.
