Black and Gold Jingle and Hoop

Sometimes as I create new pieces, I tend to overthink my work, and my work becomes too busy. When that happens, I typically don’t like the outcome. The Jingle Series is an ongoing series celebrating the simple beauty of the Jingle Dress and dance. During our traditional community powwow in the fall of the year in Naytahwaush, I saw some of the most beautiful regalia I’ve ever seen. As the dancer moves around the arena, the colors and sound of the jingle dress only magnify the beauty. Each stitch, each bead, and each shiny jingle is about healing and dedication to the maker's artistry. This series celebrates all of that in a simple, but I think, beautiful way.
